While Jeana’s heart may have limitations, it certainly has not limited her love of animals. With dolphins being one of her favorite animals, Hawaii was the perfect location for her to finally get the chance to interact with them.
17-year-old Jeana suffers from severe pulmonary hypertension associated with congenital heart disease. As Jeana’s wish to go to Hawaii approached, her grandmother commented, “She was so excited she could hardly stand herself.”
Upon arriving in Hawaii, Jeana was greeted in style with traditional Hawaiian leis and tropical breezes for a vacation in paradise. “I am a major animal lover, and I’ve always found dolphins interesting,” Jeana said. A Dolphin Quest at Hilton Waikoloa Village on the Big Island was the perfect place for Jeana and her grandma to meet three dolphins personally. They learned hand signals to make the dolphins splash and also got close enough to pet them.
Hawaii was a dream come true for this animal lover. All of this was made possible by her Adopt-A-Wish® Sponsor, Jewelers For Children. Jewelers for Children (JFC) was founded in 1999 by the U.S. jewelry industry with the mission of helping children in need. Since its inception, JFC has donated more than $43 million to programs benefiting children whose lives have been affected by illness, abuse, or neglect. Their regional affiliate Knowles Jewelry in Bismarck even hosted a sendoff party and gave Jeana a dolphin pendant for her trip.
