Kendall's Wish is Coming True

January 16, 2017

Gwinner, ND

Kendall, an 8-year-old girl from Gwinner, was diagnosed with a brain tumor and underwent surgery to remove the tumor. She was referred to Make-A-Wish North Dakota and discovered that her one true wish would be to go to Walt Disney World® Resort and meet her favorite character, Olaf, on her birthday. Make-A-Wish sprang into action to make this wish come true.

Her wish will start out with a limo ride to the airport, flying to sunny Orlando, Florida, staying at Give Kids the World Village®, free time to visit various theme parks and local attractions, an appointment at Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique for a princess makeover, meeting Olaf, a special dessert and fireworks party and spending time together as a family.

Kendall will celebrate her 9th birthday during her wish. What better way to celebrate than being at Walt Disney World® Resort and meeting Olaf? This wish experience will be a welcome break for the family from hospitals, doctor visits, and dealing with being sick. Her wish promises to be a magical time for her and her family and they’ll make memories to last a lifetime.

Volunteers are an important part of making wishes come true. Volunteer wish granters Amy, Kaycee and Amy worked closely with Kendall to help her discover her one true wish, planned fun surprises throughout the wish process and planned a fun and exciting surprise wish reveal for Kendall to let her know her wish was coming true. Volunteers feel an increased sense of compassion and desire to help others in their community after being a part of granting wishes. Volunteer, Kaycee Wickoren says, “I feel so much pride and joy in seeing the smiles that are put on kids’ faces when they find out their wish is coming true.” For her granting wishes gives a sense of accomplishment and makes her feel good about what she is doing.
