Sydney's Suprise Send-Off Party

Date

February 12, 2016

Location

Williston, ND

On Valentine’s Day, love will certainly be in the air for Sydney, a 13-year-old Williston girl. On Sunday, she will be treated to a surprise send-off party for her upcoming wish to go to Paris, the “City of Love” provided through Make-A-Wish® North Dakota.

The jewelry counter at JC Penney in Williston, a Jewelers for Children (JFC) partner, will host the send-off party for Sidney on Sunday in preparation for her wish trip to Paris in early March.

Traveling to Paris has been a dream of Sydney’s for as long as she can remember. She is hoping to visit the Eiffel Tower, see the Mona Lisa, eat French bread and take in a fashion show while she’s there.

For Sydney and her family, this trip will be a chance to celebrate how far Sydney has come since her diagnosis. This trip to Paris is an opportunity to not think about checkups or worry about Sydney’s health but rather, a chance for them to be together as a family making memories that will last a lifetime.

Sydney’s wish has been adopted by Jewelers for Children, which was founded in 1999 by the U.S. jewelry industry with the mission of helping children in need. JFC has donated more than $48 million to programs benefiting children whose lives have been affected by illness, abuse or neglect through relationships with a variety of charities. This nationwide success is due to the continuing generosity of jewelry trade organizations, jewelry and watch manufacturing companies, jewelry retail stores, individual jewelry professionals and jewelry consumers.

Jewelers for Children has renewed its commitment to Make-A-Wish and this year will donate $750,000 to help grant 93 wishes across the country – wish experiences that have the potential to serve as a turning point in wish kids’ medical treatment helping them feel better, and in some cases, even get better.
