Heading out for a weekend camping trip might seem like a simple excursion to most people, but for a family with a child who has a medical condition, a camping trip means a lot of planning and accommodating. Soon, Ryker’s family will have one less hurdle to making weekend camping trips a reality.
Ryker, a 4-year-old from Cavalier with a genetic condition and immune deficiency, has always loved spending time with his family. Even more so, he loves spending time with them while camping. He loves anything and everything to do with being outside and appreciating the great outdoors. The whole family, including Ryker’s grandparents, love to go camping. However, until now, all of them going on a camping trip together hasn’t been possible.
Make-A-Wish® North Dakota is excited to make Ryker’s one true wish of a camper come true! Ryker and his family will now get to enjoy their favorite pastime while accommodating Ryker’s medical needs.
On Saturday April 23rd, Ryker will find out that his wish is coming true at Outlet Recreation’s main showroom in West Fargo. Ryker will be receiving a Salem Cruise Lite camper to enjoy for years to come. The camper has plenty of space for Ryker to play, air conditioning to keep him comfortable and all the other amenities that will help make camping even more enjoyable and most importantly, safe for him.
With this new camper comes so many opportunities for fun to be had and time to be spent together as a family making life-long memories. When a child has a life-threatening medical condition it is hard to find something that the whole family can do together. Camping is one the few things they can do as a family that everyone can participate in and enjoy.
Make-A-Wish grants the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy. Since its inception in 1985, Make-A-Wish North Dakota has granted over 780 wishes to children across the state.
