This wish restored hope for Isaac. After his wish experience, Isaac, a 16-year-old from Fargo with heart disease, is dreaming again of being a creative artist and looking to the future not with just being the “sick kid” but with what he could become.
Isaac has always looked up to the famous comic book writer, Stan Lee. So when wish granters met him and he found out that Make-A-Wish® North Dakota was going to grant him a wish, he knew right away that it would be to meet his idol.
In October of 2015, Isaac and his family left Fargo for the sunny city of Los Angeles, California. The day after they landed in L.A. the Comikaze Convention began and so did the realization that Isaac’s wish was coming true. While at the convention he met many comic book writers and illustrators but most importantly he met the man behind the Marvel comics, Stan Lee. “The whole experience was amazing! He was so amazed by how many people he got to meet, not just Stan Lee. They introduced him to five other artists and stars. He was beyond words with his experience” explains Isaac’s mother.
While in California, Isaac and his family didn’t just get to experience the crazy, cool world of comics but also got to explore some of the other exciting things L.A. has to offer. They got to visit Universal Studios Hollywood® including the thrilling ride, Jurassic Park. But one of the most notable aspects of the trip was that Isaac got to share this once-in-a-lifetime experience with his family.
Isaac’s wish was adopted by Adopt-A-Wish® Partner Wish Fast, a superhero themed 3, 5, and 10K run and walk.
Reflecting on the wish experience, Isaac’s mom said, “I know we are lives changed!” That is why we grant wishes. That is why wishes matter.
