Like most 3-year-old girls, Harper loves to play with dolls, do gymnastics and eat ice cream. However, unlike most other 3-year-olds, she was born with a rare cardiac condition which has resulted in multiple surgeries and treatments.
Unfortunately, children with this kind of heart condition often spend more time in hospitals and doctors’ offices than playing and enjoying just being a kid.
That’s why when Harper was referred, Make-A-Wish® North Dakota seized the opportunity to grant her one true wish. It didn’t take long for Harper to decide that her wish would be to go to meet Mickey Mouse at Walt Disney World®.
Harper loves all the Disney characters but when she was asked to imagine what the most important part of her wish would be it was all about her favorites, Mickey and Minnie. Her dream was to have breakfast with them and enjoy her favorite breakfast meal of eggs and cheese, and that is exactly what she did.
Along with having a fun-filled feast at Chef Mickey’s, Harper and her family enjoyed everything that the magical world of Disney had to offer. One of Harper’s favorite parts was getting to ride on a roller coaster for the very first time. In fact, she loved it so much she made her mom ride on it with her three times in a row!
Harper got to meet many of the Disney princesses and while she loved them all, Rapunzel was definitely her favorite. She even got to meet the rest of Mickey’s friends; Pluto, Goofy and Donald Duck. By the time she left she had a book full of autographs from her favorite characters and memories full of joy.
Harper, her mom and grandparents were able to spend much needed time together as a family without worrying about surgeries or doctor visits. “These memories will last a lifetime,” says her mom, Courtney.
