Logan, an 11-year-old girl from Harwood, lives with cystic fibrosis. While everyday of her life revolves around treatment of her condition, she does her best to not let it control her life. Each day, twice a day or more if she’s not feeling well, brings treatment for her lungs. This takes up to about three hours of her day.
For Logan, art is an escape from the everyday struggle of living with cystic fibrosis. She has loved art for as long as she can remember and started drawing and coloring during treatment as a way to pass the time. She finds art to be calming.
When volunteer wish granters met with Logan to help her discover her one true wish, her art show was born. Logan’s wish is to have an art show for her family and friends. Over the past few months, Logan has been working with art teacher, Vanessa Fettig, at Oak Grove School to learn more about different mediums and hone her skills. She has also spent time working with three individual artists – Barbara Nagle, Thaddeus Laugisch and Chelsea Odden - to learn more about painting, sketching, acrylics, oil and watercolor as well as some unique mediums.
Logan has been busy creating art pieces for her art show and is excited to share them with her family and friends. Logan’s wish is coming true on Saturday, August 19, when she will have her own art show at APT Studio. Her art will be showcased for a month and individual pieces will be available for purchase. Her show will include a short program after Logan’s arrival at her art opening. A full itinerary of her wish day is listed at the end of this media release.
Logan’s wish day will be an amazing experience for her and her family. There are many partners who are working collaboratively on this wish. Last week, Logan and her younger sister, Aftyn, were treated to a mini makeover and dress fashion show at JCPenney. Each of the girls were able to pick out a dress and matching shoes for wish day. On wish day, JCPenney will also be doing the girls’ hair and makeup. In addition, Make-A-Wish® North Dakota has worked closely with Dayna Del Val and Jeff Knight at The Arts Partnership to make Logan’s wish come true. Her show will include food catered by Deb’s Corner Foods & Catering and entertainment by members of Silver Winds flute quartet.
The art show will take place at APT located at 225 4th Avenue North in Fargo from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m.
