James, an 11-year-old Bismarck boy, lives with Huntington’s disease. He is about to have his wish come true. James loves spending time at the zoo and he loves animals. When his wish granters, Ali and Alli, met him he shared with them his love of campfires, fireworks, the zoo and animals.
His wish granters thought the best place to surprise him with the announcement that his wish was coming true would be the Dakota Zoo in Bismarck. He found out just this week that his wish is coming true and he and his family will be boarding a plane to travel to San Diego for a one-of-a-kind experience.
During James’ wish he’ll visit the Safari Park, Nurtured by Nature, and the San Diego Zoo where he’ll experience a behind-the-scenes tour of the zoo to see what the public doesn’t get to and get up close and personal with the animals. James and his family will also have some free time to explore the sights and beaches of San Diego.
James’ wish is coming true thanks to the generous support of groups and individuals who give through Make-A-Wish to grant the wishes of kids like James. As summer comes to a close and many families are getting in the back to school mode, remember that even students can make wishes come true with our Kids For Wish Kids® and Wishmakers On Campus® programs. These programs are designed for kids to help kids. You can visit northdakota.wish.org and click on How You Can Help to learn more.
Make-A-Wish grants the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy. Since its inception in 1985, Make-A-Wish North Dakota has granted over 800 wishes to children across the state.
