Carsten, a 10-year-old Jamestown boy with a brain tumor, wants a wish that is more than just a moment in time and memories and pictures afterward. He wants a wish that will last forever. On Friday, Carsten’s one true wish is coming true thanks to Make-A-Wish® North Dakota. Carsten wishes to have a room makeover that features amenities for his cat, Gracee.
His room makeover will incorporate many of his favorite things including his cat, his love of gaming, his favorite color and much more. Carsten shared his ideas and his most wanted list with his wish granting volunteers and the contractor when work began on his room. However, he will be surprised on Friday when he sees the fully completed room for the first time.
Carsten was able to pick out his gaming system from Toys “R” Us® in early December and he’s looking forward to playing video games in his new space. His room makeover will give him and Gracee a place to relax, play, and be free from the stresses of living with a life-threatening medical condition.
Carsten will be featured at the 3rd Annual Denim & Diamonds gala on Saturday, January 21, starting at 6:00 p.m. at the Quality Inn. His family will talk about his wish and the impact a wish come true has had on them. A limited number of tickets for the event will be available at the door. Proceeds from Denim & Diamonds support Jakestar and Make-A-Wish North Dakota.
Carsten’s wish is the result of many partners coming together to accomplish a single goal of making a child’s one true wish come true. A special thank you to CC Bliss Contracting, Scott’s Electric, Inc., Slumberland Furniture, Toys “R” Us and PetSmart® for their help making Carsten’s wish come true.
Make-A-Wish grants the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy. Since its inception in 1985, Make-A-Wish North Dakota has granted over 800 wishes to children across the state.
